It's still early on a otherwise normal Thursday. I'm at work and I've spent the morning so far trying to make it to lunch without doing a single thing on my hot list. So far, so good, but there will be hell to pay later this afternoon.
I used to be productive, until I was promoted and given an office for all my hard work. The lack of prying eyes freed me to go online anytime and do whatever I want - providing the company censors allow it. Over the last year I've sunk deep into mediocrity, relying on my talent to help me skate by and doing just enough to keep from anyone from asking questions about my real "value" to the company. It's easy to disappear in a big company. It helps when your uninspired and unsupervised.
The irony is that I'm secure in my job, but the hypocrisy of not actually working is killing me.
I think I've learned things from my internet travels. Odd bits of trivia, tips, tricks, amazing and startling images. I'm such an info junkie, but I'm not sure there's been any real value in it. I've read dozens of articles about starting my own business and felt inspired, but the feeling quickly wears off and I'm left looking for pictures of big breast superstars.
Today I stumbled a article about starting your own blog and here we are.
I'd like to find my work ethic again and kick this habit, but it's hard when you're stuck in a rut. Maybe this afternoon will bring something new, maybe tomorrow. Maybe I'll just get fresh start on things next week. For now I'm wondering what other people blog about. I bet there's some juicy stuff out there. I think I'll go have a look...
